Jose Armando Cadena Cabrera, alias “Bronco”, was arrested Friday in the teeming Bogota district of Fontibon, the head of the Dijin criminal investigation unit of the National Police, Gen. Luis Gabriel Ramirez, said. The official told the press that the rebel was arrested during a police raid in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, the agency that tried him for “aggravated kidnapping and extortion, aggravated homicide and conspiracy to commit crime.” According to Colombian authorities, Cadena belongs to the Teofilo Forero mobile column of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, and was part of the elite rebel faction that on Feb. 13, 2003 shot down the aircraft carrying U.S. contractors working within the so-called Plan Colombia.
