Two of Escobar's hippos, which were imported from Africa, fled from the zoo in 2006 and had not been seen since. Colombia. They became something of a local legend until Julian Lineros, a photographer, and Diana Pachon, a reporter, recently went searching for the pair, and apparently found one of the pair near the Magdalena river in the wetlands of northern Colombia, according to a local magazine.
